New Community toolkit for Brownsville Brooklyn

The Pitkin Ave BID launches BrownsvilleNow using their Business Directory in Ginkgo.

The Pitkin Avenue Business Improvement District manages a vibrant commercial corridor in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Adding a Ginkgo map to the organization’s Squarespace website offered a seamless and low cost way to improve access to information about the mix of businesses on the corridor.

The Pitkin Ave BID took this one step further when they launched a local QR Code signage system called BrownsvilleNow (www.brownsvillenow.nyc).

The system helps local residents and visitors pull up a map of all businesses, activities and events around them by scanning the BrownsvilleNow signs being set up throughout the neighborhood on street furniture, murals and storefronts.

In addition, local business owners are able to control their own business listings, as well as analyze the number of times each QR Code sign is scanned. This data analysis capability helps the Pitkin BID optimize where they place signs and how they design the messaging in order to work with their stakeholders to improve engagement within their community.
